TribeTech live at the Tech South West Awards

The second TribeTech podcast was recorded live at the inaugural Tech South West Awards and is out now on Spotify, iTunes and Audioboom.

It was a glitzy and, dare we say it, even a glamorous affair and a chance to do what we don’t do enough of in the South West – celebrate what we’re great at!

Our podcast hosts, Feyaza and Robert set up the TribeTech podcast studio at the ceremony and spoke to as many of the winners as possible, just after they’d taken hold of their gleaming award trophy.

You’ll hear from a number of the inspirational winners. From making soil out of waste to producing mental health fitbits, Feyaza and Robert spent the evening talking to incredible people making a real difference, not just in the South West but around the world.

Robert Wiltshire, Education Outreach Coordinator at Software Cornwall, winner of the Best Education Initiative Award, talks about the exciting ‘Mission to Mars’ project, which gives over 90 children a year experience in software coding. Nigel Winship, CEO and Founder of People Matter Technology, talks about how they are using technology to help employees and employers track, manage and improve mental health, avoid burn-out and promote well-being. And Alex Roland founder of Your IT Now, talks about his work to support people with learning disabilities around the safe use of the Internet.

Award hosts Toby Parkin and Vicky Hunter, and Tech South West co-founder Dan Pritchard, also get in on the action.

So, if you were there, and want to recall the highs of the night – listen! If you weren’t there, and want to audibly rub shoulders with some very happy, chatty members of the tech community, listen!

And if you are a 2019 winner, even if you couldn’t be squeezed into the final edit, everyone gets a mention, because that’s the kind of tech community we are!
