South West ClimateTech Leaders Chart Path to Global Recognition

Tech South West convened 35+ climatetech founders and ecosystem partners at Deloitte’s Bristol office this week to help shape the region’s climatetech future. The working session built on momentum from October’s inaugural climatetech summit at 42 Acres regenerative estate.

The focus was on three core core ambitions: establishing the SW as a Living Lab for marine and land-based innovation & clean energy transition, building a thriving £10bn+ GVA ecosystem, and creating a ’tech from the edge’ methodology for regions progressing climate solutions.

With expert input from Deloitte on market and funding trends, Bristol & Bath Regional Capital on investment readiness and the region’s new Green Growth Fund, and EDF updating delegates on the latest Tech Nation Climate Report, participants worked through sessions on vision, mapping, and roadmap development.

At £4.1bn, South West climatetech is now bigger than every English region except London and those adjoining the capital: the South East and East of England.

“The collaborative spirit demonstrated exactly why I’m so optimistic about what the region is delivering when it comes to climatetech and without doubt, the potential to accelerate innovation and opportunity,” said Dan Pritchard, Founder of Tech South West.

“We have the natural assets, technical expertise, and collaborative culture that makes founders want to build here. Now we need to do more on coordinated capital, revenue and structured support to turn that into a globally-recognised high-impact ecosystem. That’s going to be a key focus as we develop opportunities through 2026 and beyond. If you’re in this sector, and want to get involved, do reach out.”
