Nine Tales of Tech

Space, startups and digital support: that’s the order of the day at our next Tech Gathering on July 30 10 – 11.30am.

Nine Tales of Tech features interviews and discussions with nine innovators from across the region. The format will be split into three three panel discussions, each exploring a key aspect of the South West tech sector.

We’ll be kicking things off with a look at startups in the South West and the opportunities for new organisations to make a real impact. Our region is becoming increasingly well known for new and emerging tech companies. We’ll be joined by Steve Edwards and Brian Prescott of enterprise partnership SetSquared, ranked as the Global No.1 University Business Incubator.

You’ll then be launched into a fast-paced discussion about Space Tech in the region, and how developments in the sector are bringing opportunities to the wider tech community. Maybe you can get involved? Tech South West chair Toby Parkins will be joined by David Ashford of Bristol Spaceplanes, Melissa Thorpe of Spaceport Cornwall and James Fairbairn of Cornwall Development Company to talk space, satellites and why the eyes of Europe’s space sector are all looking at South West England right now.

Then Tech South West co-founder Dan Pritchard will be talking digital skills with Julian Wills of Technology for Success, Paula Byers of Digital North Devon and Charlotte Collyer of the Heart of the South West Digital Skills Partnership. How has tech business collaboration evolved in the time of Covid? Where are businesses going now for advice on strategy, skills and support? How can we increase the resilience of the tech sector to thrive as we move forward into a new working landscape?

As ever, this month’s Tech Gathering will finish with some quickfire 1-1 networking so you can meet, greet and think on your feet.
