Howden has renewed its partnership with Tech South West for the Growth Forge 2026 programme, building upon last year’s successful collaboration.
Howden is an expert insurance group known for helping high‑growth businesses understand and manage risk as they scale. Their team supports founders with practical guidance on areas such as operational risk, cyber resilience, liability, and the insurance considerations that become increasingly important as technology companies grow, take on customers, and expand into new markets.
They take a different approach to insurance — combining flexible, high‑quality cover with straightforward advice, and using insurance as a tool to strengthen a company’s resilience rather than simply a compliance requirement. Through Growth Forge, Howden will help founders identify blind spots, understand what “good” looks like, and make confident decisions as they scale.
“We are thrilled to be supporting Tech South West’s Growth Forge Programme for a third year. This collaboration underscores our dedicated focus on innovation and growth within the tech sector in the South West “, Rupert Clerey, Branch Director

Rupert Clerey is the Branch Director of Howden’s Padstow and Exeter offices as well as being a Commercial Account Executive looking after a longstanding client base.
With over 20 years industry experience, he works closely with customers and insurers, both existing and new, to develop bespoke insurance solutions to protect their businesses.

Ian MacIver is Client Director at Howden, based in Exeter. With a background in the marine industry, having started his career as a hydrographic surveyor, Ian offers broad technical experience around emerging technologies, with a particular focus on unmanned vehicles.
Ian has worked with developing insurance programmes for a range of technology companies and can provide hands on support through all stages of the start-up process.
